Institute Presentation
The University Medical Center Groningen (UMCG) is a leading academic institute for medical research in the Netherlands.
Its core mission is to support and improve healthy ageing research within a multidisciplinary approach.
The UMCG hosts the Interdisciplinary Center of Psychopathology and Emotion regulation (ICPE; Catharina Hartman), an internationally top-ranking psychiatric epidemiology research group. ICPE performs research at the cross-roads of mental and somatic health.
The UMCG hosts the Genetic Epidemiology and Bioinformatics Unit (Harold Snieder), renowned for its extensive expertise in statistical analysis and bioinformatic follow-up of (epi)genome-wide association study data, as well as its innovative analytical methods and software tools.
In TIMESPAN these groups join forces.
Catharina Hartman’s research group is focused on the intergenerational transmission and lifespan course of neurodevelopmental disorders, including ADHD.
Harold Snieder’s unit aims to identify genes, environmental exposures, and their interactions on cardiometabolic, renal and other common complex diseases of aging.
In Timespan they combine their expertise.
